Red Pepper seeds are sown in nurseries and seedlings are transplanted to the field
Thyme is sourced from whole branches to improve flavour and reduce the risk of added ingredients
Cinnamon is ground and bottled in our own facilities to maintain consistent product integrity

Without the farmers, none of this would be possible. We’re dedicated to their success. To reach our goal of improving the resilience of at least 90% of the smallholder farmers who grow our five iconic herbs and spices by 2025 we strive to:

Build upon nearly 25 years of relationships in India by continuing to improve our smallholder farmers’ livelihoods
Empower women in the smallholder farming communities of our five iconic herbs and spices with access to education and skills training
Invest in water purification systems in India to facilitate clean drinking water, expected to positively impact 19,500 people

The future has to be sustainable, that’s why we’re dedicated to making a measurable impact with how our farms operate. A core piece of McCormick’s sustainability work is to address climate change. Initiatives to reduce our overarching carbon footprint on a global scale, and to help reduce our environmental impact, include:

Supporting farmers in implementing integrated pest management systems and teaching biodynamic farming practices
Farm-focused afforestation awareness and collaborative projects for Cinnamon
Drip irrigation in place of conventional water practices for cayenne pepper
